The staff and service was first rate the rooms were small but comfortable, the location was strange being in the middle of a housing estate but the river view from the rear was good
Friendly, quiet, good parking, good breakfast included, free wi-fi, lovely riverside setting with super gardens and terrace, excellent value
The room design, particularly the bathroom, was terrible with the toilet sndwiched between the bath and the wall. Although seemingly purpose designed (I was in a newish outside annex), the bathroom is only 4 feet wide and that's not enough width for a bath and a toilet. Also, the shower tap was very hard to use and almost impossible to turn off. Overall, the hotel has a slightly tired look but it's still great value as the rate was so good.
Location and breakfast. The lady serving the breakfast was very friendely.
The crane of the shower was not goed. Not easy to adjust the temperature.
very welcoming staff, a quiet location and a good breakfast
The carpets in the stairs/corridor area of the accommodation block were dirty, un-hoovered and held together with black tape. Although my room was generally clean the floors in the toilet and bathroom were not and when I took a bath I was sat looking at a ring of black dirty residue around the bathtap/shower control which was rather unpleasant. The rat traps in the car park may have been necessary but very obvious and a little disconcerting
Very warm welcome from all of the staff - very friendly, very professional. Good breakfast - again very friendly, helpful waitress. Single room is a single bed, but room was comfortable and large radiator over which I had control meant I could be toasty or cool, as I wished! Not luxury accommodation, but great for the price.
Resteraunt and bar superb as where the staff but hotel block is a nasty throwback to the 1960's small very dated rooms no bedside lights scruffy bathroom. But we were told a full update is due to start on may 23 2011!
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The lady who served breakfast is the nicest lady I've ever met, such a friendly and helpful hostess. We had a wonderful stay. Very relaxing and the view of the river was very peaceful.
Beautiful surroundings by the river, excellent location, rooms were clean not good value for money though very small. Seemed very short staffed only one member of staff at breakfast. It's a nice hotel just for a short stay
It was very well placed for a cheap overnight stay before an appointment in Derby the following day.
Poor lighting level in the bedroom - difficult to work.
Exceptionally bland food and rather small portion sizes. The website I booked through described the Hotel as being near the centre of Burton. An £8 taxi ride from the station to the hotel suggests it isn't.
really good value restaurant, quiet location, central location
bathroom tired and in need of redecoration
The staff were friendly and the ambience of the restaurant. The lady serving breakfast was adorable and extremly pleasant.
The accommodation was tired in decor and the shower in room 12 does not work properly!
Very friendly staff. Breakfast buffet is all right. Very nice views over the river Trent.
Rooms are small but have all necessary comfort. Bathrooms have been improved since my last visit over 1 year ago.
Room compact but sufficient for our needs breakfast excellent
Quiet, scenic location, friendly, helpful staff, clean tidy room, food tasty and very reasonably priced, excellent breakfast
Location a long way from breweries which are the main tourist attraction in Burton-upon-Trent
